You could buy a reasonable price used car, a clunker, for an affordable price in the US. That is not the case anymore. You can buy one for $10.000,- as is, let’s say with 145000 miles on it. The car had an accident but looks pretty good. Then you put $2.700,- repair in it: new tires, new brakes. $500,- insurance. Then it get’s really cold and 3000 miles later the engine freezes and a new engine is $5.000-7.000 without labor. Why throwing good money after bad money? So the car repair shop pays $300 for scrapping the vehicle and if you don’t make a desicion within 3 days they will charge you a parking fee. The car was sold for $300,- .
That car lastet not even 6 month. That is $2.000,- per month for driving a car. Sounds like going to the casino or flushing your money down the toilet. I didn’t know about Uber. Now I know: you can do a lot of driving with Uber for $2000,- a month.
Customers always have an alternative. It feels good to be aware of that power.
