When opening my account with Forum Credit Union, I explicitly requested no credit line. Meaning when the savings account goes into a negative balance it should not draw from from the checking account. Furthermore, when the checking account goes into a negative balance, the payment has to be declined.
In this test scenario, a payment went through in spite of creating a negative balance on the checking account.
What part of “I do not want a negative balance on my checking account” does Forum Credit Union not understand?
Ms. E.G. at Forum Credit Union says, the checking account draws from the savings account, and the checking account goes to a negative balance when a monthly donation comes through. The monthly donation is a contract or a subscription. Forum Credit cannot stop a transaction from coming through, if there is no money in the account. Ms. E. G. recommends to get a new credit/debit card to get rid of the unwanted subscription.
How can this be legal? You are forced to have overdraft!? Again your wallet is in the advantage : you do not only see how much money you have left, nobody can take money out when it is empty. I call this modern slavery.
In October 2023 Forum writes a letter to inform me about the overdraft fees that were accumulated so far: $120,-. This is really great for an account that should decline all payments when the balance is zero or becones negative. The Forum clerk opened this account against my wishes. What part of ‘I don’t want any overdraft” did she not understand. This false and fraudulent sale of banking services cost me at least $120,- not to mention the time I wasted to explain those tellers, that I didn’t open an account with those features to begin with and their incompetence to correct it. The clerks obvious don’t know their banking products and sell service under false condition.
This exampke shows, that Forum Credit’s practice is clearly illegal and fraudulent.
I want my $120,- back. Why can the ATM terminal decline a cash request when the balance is zero or becomes zero and the credit card or debit card of Forum cannot? This is pushing a customer in debt to made money.
The account was opened under the condition, that all payments have to be rejected, that create a negative balance for the account. That would be a wallet kind of management of the bank account, if it’s empty nobody can take out anything. The manager at the bank explained subscriptions go through since subscriptions are a promise to pay, they are a contract. So what is the business or legal process here: a subscription has a higher priority than the fact, that there is no money available, which reminds me of the nonsense, that SAP systems introduced negative inventory. This reminds me of the mathematical misunderstanding, that a number in the decimals is looked upon as a negative number. There are two negative signs: one for the base and one for the exponent. Meaning fraudulent banks shift dollar amounts to the right sight of the decimal point and back, just thinking.
The bank manger in this case recommends to start with a new debit / credit card. However this doesn’t solve the problem, the new card would create the same problem.
Having done business process design as a master of Computer Science for more than 30 years, the correct solution would be5, to put subscriptions on hold until the amounts are available. Which contains the risk, that subscriptions on hold might accumulate. Then they could cancel out after three attempts. This could easily be programmed why isn’t it done this way.
This false principle amounts to the fact, that the United States have suspended the nation debt ceiling until the next election in January 2024. Then the new administration can say again, it’s not our debt it was done before.
I remember the question when I introduced my bank refinancing algorithm : what if it becomes negative, I never understood this question, assuming savings interest can never become negative and you either have money or you don’t.
How can the promise to pay be stronger than the fact that you have money or not. This is for subscriptions, not for rent, car or mortgage payments. Then why is it legal to cancel those subscriptions by replacing the credit debit card?
