Customer Feedback for United Airlines.

A rountrip ticket from Indianapolis to Frankfurt leaving in August and returning in November is only used half, the return flight could not be canceled and stayed open. A additional ticket was purchased for the return flight in September.

Time goes by and more work needs to be done in Europe. Another one-way ticket from Indianapolis to Frankfurt is purchased for about $350. The old flight from Frankfurt to Indianapolis and the new flight from Indianapolis to Frankfurt happen to be on the same day.

Now this is how United IT or customer service messes up the situation:

the old flight from Frankfurt to Indianapolis is coming up for check-in. Again it is not possible to cancel that flight in the check-in app. I reply to the check-in message that this flight has to be canceled. Then the flight overview shows the new flight canceled and the old flight still ready for check-in. I reply to the text message that the wrong flight was canceled, nothing happens for an hour or so.

I call United and explain the peculiar situation and a nice and patient human being is able to cancel the old flight. However the new flight’s cancelation cannot be revoked and I have to buy another ticket, another $290!

I have a masters degree in computer science and this is not okay. I know by experience, that IT departments are under pressure to put flawed programs in service. A stupid marketing machine is selling more technology that is less save. Cotton candy tactics, whipped cream businesses, no substance , no quality.

Consumers will be pushed to pay for artifact intelligence flaws and those don’t get the pink slip if they fuck up, but they take your job away. So how shall an economy work that doesn’t provide income for humans, who have to pay for their competitors that take over their jobs. It won’t work and it will collapse, it is collapsing already. It is a Ponzy scheme. It will collapse for sure.
