The question is, if this doctor actually asked the parents what happened or if he wrote down his diagnosis without asking them. The relative sent a letter about the father and the baby bumping heads, the baby in the double bed. The father might not have noticed that is was there. There are cases of babies dying when sleeping with their parents in one bed. And accidentally head bumping or a willful shaking is a big difference. Why do I write this, because my experience in Germany is, that people don’t talk to you, they go behind your back and accuse you. It’s a denunciation culture that goes back to the evil Nazi time. I have seen that with my own brother, cousin, daughter. Individuals are afraid or are getting inhibited to talk to you, it’s easier to go behind your back and accuse you. When I came to the US and complained about coworkers or whoever frustrated me, the answer always was “Have you talked to him/her?” Now, if the father is being falsely accused of shaking a baby after a freak accident, did they have a midwife coming to the home, were they first time parents, the emotions about your own child are like under a magnifying glass. This is just another example of insensitivity and unprofessionalism that led to a drama. Parents having a baby is the most beautiful part of natur, you just don’t get in the way of nature. Basta!
